The 2021 Grammy nominations are here. Beyonce leads all artists with nine total. Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and Roddy Rich follow Queen Bey, with six nods a piece. Six nominations brings Swift’s total to 41. BTS and Harry Styles each earned their first Grammy nods, BTS is up for best pop duo/group performance and Styles has three nominations, best pop solo performance, best pop vocal album and best music video.
One massive surprise on the nominations list was The Weeknd, who didn’t receive any following the huge success of his recent album After Hours. He took to social media a few hours after the list was revealed to slam the Recording Academy saying the Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency. The Weeknd tweeted again saying collaboratively planning a performance for weeks to not being invited? In my opinion zero nominations = you’re not invited! Halsey also got some things off her chest after being snubbed once again by the Grammys too.
Peacock has apologized for a Saved by the Bell episode that referenced Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant in a brief scene as well as donated to the singer’s lupus charity following social media criticism over the episode. They said we apologize. It was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health. We have been in touch with her team and will be making a donation to her charity. Fans criticized the show on social media throughout Saturday, causing Respect Selena Gomez to trend on Twitter.
Taylor Swift has an early Christmas present for Swifties: a new film on Disney+. The singer surprised the world again when she announced the drop of Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. This is a performance of songs from her quarantine album. Swift said this is an album that allows you to feel your feeling and it’s a product of isolation. This could have been a time when I absolutely lost my mind but hey instead it’s just one of her biggest hits. You can stream the film now on Disney+.
