Apparently this is what other countries think ‘American Food’ is

How do you people from around the world would define “American food”?  Turns out if you’re in England, all you have to do is point to the candy aisle and you’ll see.

A woman in England recently took a few pictures at a local grocery store of their “American food” aisle and posted them to social media. Those pictures are now going viral because of the products the grocery store considers to be “American foods.”

The foods in these pictures include:

  • Lots of candy, including Nerds, Reese’s Pieces, and Jelly Belly jelly beans
  • Twinkies and Pepperidge Farms cookies
  • Breakfast foods like Pop Tarts and Lucky Charms. And even a generic version of Lucky Charms called “Marshmallow Mateys”
  • Pumpkin pie filling
  • A1 steak sauce, Jim Beam bourbon barbecue sauce, and liquid smoke
  • Jack Link’s beef jerky
  • Hot dogs in a jar

It’s actually the hot dogs in a jar, floating in water that has most Americans all upset.  that last one that’s getting most Americans worked up. It’s not the fact that everything in that aisle can be considered awful food if one is trying to be healthy. The hot dogs in the jar are what really got people’s attention.
