Thinking of proposing soon? The Hotel Ranga in Iceland is encouraging women to do it by offering them a free one-night stay if they pop the question to their partners on Leap Day, February 29th. They want women to “Take the Leap” and even provide an in-house wedding coordinator to work out all the details.
The 4-star hotel has a few proposal recommendation spots, like underneath a crystallized waterfall, beneath the aurora borealis (northern lights), or something as insanely extravagant as taking a helicopter to the hotel. They offer a breakfast, chocolate-covered strawberries, and champagne to help you celebrate after you pop the question. Then, you can spend the night stargazing on the hotel’s observatory. Later, there’s an Icelandic themed dinner, like lobster soup and fillet of lamb. And finally, you could end the night as an officially engaged couple in their natural hot tubs.
“Iceland in general is a big champion of women, and we love that Leap Year has this tradition where it’s good luck for ladies to propose marriage on this day,” explains the hotel’s marketing manager. “We wanted to empower women to have the courage to take the lead not only on Leap Day, but every day, and celebrate them for it!.”
